Every leader needs a truth-teller because you can’t fix what you don’t see.

Black and white sketch of a man wearing sunglasses, a suit, and a tie, with his head turned slightly to the right and a confident expression.

For decades, I’ve made a career out of telling leaders the truths no one else will say out loud.

Here’s what I’ve learned: When you hold up an honest mirror to power, you either become their most trusted advisor… or they let you go.

For example, when the CFO of a major academic medical center became CEO, he asked me to be his trusted advisor. “People tell me what I want to hear,” he said. “You will tell me what I need to know.” That trust helped us make decisions that saved millions, expanded market share, and transformed the organization into a powerhouse.

The pattern is consistent: some leaders crave the truth because it gives them options and sharpens their decisions; others fear it because it threatens their identity as competent, decisive, and in control.

But, you can’t fix what you don’t see.

If you’re ready to see what others won’t tell you—about you, your leadership, your strategy execution - then I can help.
